Exo-Port Sizing Guide

Choose your Exo-Port™ by the outer diameter (OD) of the cannula you will pass through it. Cannulas with expanded tips or raised features need more room, so go one to two sizes up, or use Exo-Port MAX.

Quick size chart

Your cannula Recommended Exo-Port
Standard cannula, 3.0 mm OD Exo-Port Ø3.0 mm
Standard cannula, 4.0 mm OD Exo-Port Ø4.0 mm
Standard cannula, 5.0 mm OD Exo-Port Ø5.0 mm
Expanded-tip or raised-feature cannula (e.g. Becker basket, Gilliland) A standard port 1–2 sizes larger than the cannula OD, or Exo-Port MAX
Raised-feature cannula, 2–4 mm Exo-Port MAX Fig. 1
Raised-feature cannula, 4–6 mm Exo-Port MAX Fig. 2

Why go larger for basket and etching cannulas?

Raised features such as a basket tip make the cannula wider at its widest point than its nominal size. A port that matches only the nominal OD can be too tight. That's why we recommend going one to two sizes up, or using Exo-Port MAX, which is designed specifically for cannulas with raised features and has barbed side walls that help prevent accidental removal.
